Employees at multiple GE Aviation facilities, including one here in Durham, North Carolina didn’t show up for work yesterday in protest of a vaccine mandate, according to inside sources. General Electric, the parent company of GE Aviation, announced Friday that employees in the US would be required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 by December 8. GE attributed the requirement to President Biden’s Executive Order and their status as federal contractors. GE Aviation has multiple facilities in North Carolina, including in Asheville, Durham, Wilmington, and West Jefferson.
According to an employee participating in the protest, up to 75% of staff did not show up for work at the Durham, NC, Peebles, OH, and Lafayette, IN locations. The employee also predicted that this mandate would have a severe negative effect on relations with management going forward.
As of 2018, GE claimed that the Durham plant had shipped over 22,000 engine units. GE Aviation produces engines for both civilian and military use. General Electric, the parent company, is one of the 100 largest American companies, with a market capitalization of over $100 billion.
UPDATE: GE Aviation responded with a statement confirming the vaccine mandate. They did not comment on employee protests, or percentage of employees vaccinated.
On background, as a federal contractor, GE is complying with the executive order which requires employees of federal contractors to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. All GE U.S. employees will be fully vaccinated or receive a medical or religious accommodation by December 8th as required in the order.
GE Aviation in Greenville, SC is under the same vaccine mandate by Dec 8th…workers at this plant agree with their fellow plants..most employees will not agree to vaccines… and expect they will lose their job. Sadly, almost 85 percent of the workforce in Greenville only recently returned to their position after being unemployed for a year.

Verbal wishes that have not been translated into legal documents – and published as required by law – are an insufficient rationale for violating U.S. Constitutionally-guaranteed Rights, and aree also inadequate for the violation of Internationally-recognized rights.
Ask that CEO who has signed the order issued to employees, ‘because we need someone to hold individually, financially, legally accountable for unlawful assumptions of authority they don’t have.
There is no violation of constitutional rights. Well established by the Supreme Court. Also, in a free market capitalist society a private business can mandate what they please as long as they aren’t violating a protected class and even the supreme court muddy the protected class waters on the decision a bakery didn’t have to make a cake for a gay couple. GE is a publicly traded company that trades under the ticker NYSE: GE (i.e. owned by the public, i.e.not private) and is a federal contractor. Your logic doesn’t hold water my friend. Good luck with that though.
I think you will find sir, that this many people walking out will be able to take civil actions against the company, Joe Biden and any elected officials directing this mandate. More significantly, GE will be brought to it’s knees and will not be able to provide engines, spare parts and service to the airline’s and our military. Joe is wrong. Under the same mandate here in Norwich, NY. Unfortunately we are not a Union shop, so we don’t have the same protections there. LOTS of pissed of people here none the less. Plenty of people ready to just quit over this.

There are real problems with these vaccines that the world has yet to learn. The both the Nuremburg Code and Helsinki Accord, as well as many US laws establish the rules of safety and human rights associated with human experimentation and make no mistake, these vaccine mandates are nothing short of compulsory human experimentation.

If GE developed a new engine based on a new technology in just 6months AND received full FAA licensure, would you fly on that plain? Let say planes are flying with those new engines and about one crashes per week and the media says “there no evidence to show that the engines were not the problem.” would you keep flying then? What if, at that point, the government said that if you travel more than 100miles, you have to fly in one of these new plains – would you ask questions then???
I work for GE and when i got the email that Friday morning my first thought was that we will lose shop guys… Upper management is there to please shareholders, apparently not smart enough to figure out that if they lose production it is related to loss of income.
You are mistaken. You don’t have a right to drive a car on public roads. You DO have a right to smoke in public places, it’s private businesses and federal/state buildings that you don’t have that right. You have the right to not have my fist hit your nose, until your nose gets into my business and violates MY rights. You can’t deliberately step into range of my fist while I’m swinging it. You have no right to protection from an act of god, and no proof that I am causing you any harm by not being vaccinated.
Not only do masks and vaccinations NOT keep others out of harm’s way, the Economist determined that the total COVID 19 Death Toll world wide is actually close to 18 million. Only 4 million of them died from COVID. The rest died from medical ailments they didn’t seek help for at the hospital because they were frightened into staying home, or died from lack of “non-essential services”, or like my grandmother, died from being socially isolated for 9 months and losing all hope.
There is no proof of Covid vaccine is effective. Because fully vaccinated people can infect other patients. The Covid vaccine is destroying one’s immune system, that is why you keep getting 2nd, 3rd etc booster doses. The best way to fight the virus is through active immunization! There is a cure which big Pharm hate (invermectine and dehydroqunine) because generic drugs don’t make money! Once vaccinated, Red Cross will deny your plasma for donations because it wipes out the immune system of recepient.
