The rally was planned to begin at 1pm at the executive mansion at 200 N Blount Street. A moderate police presence was set up at the entrance to the grounds and an adjacent parking lot saw a few officers clothed in tactical gear. The fewer than 10 attendees who showed up to the event were outnumbered by counter protestors.

One attendee, Monica, told us she was a law-school graduate whose family had escaped from Castro’s Cuba, and was out to promote basic constitutional rights.

The previous “World Wide Rally for Freedom & Democracy” rally on March 30 in Raleigh had around a hundred attendees, including around twenty Proud Boys.
