Protesters Oppose Vaccine Mandate for High School Seniors

Around 50 protesters gathered yesterday (February 2, 2022) to protest a petition for vaccine mandates which would cover seventeen-year-olds and high school seniors. While the North Carolina Commission for Public Health meeting was moved to be virtual, groups including Citizen Advocates for Accountable Government and Moms for Liberty organized a protest outside the NCDHHS Division of Public Health building on Six Forks Road.

Speakers at the protest included multiple candidates for office, including Michelle Antoine and Kevin Donovan, for Johnston County School Board; Charlie Mulligan and David Bankert, for N.C. Senate districts 41 and 18, respectively; and Alan Swain, for NC Congressional District 4.

Protesters celebrated when the Commission voted unanimously to deny the petition.
