Conservatives Protest Stacey Abrams Lecture at DPAC

A handful of conservatives came out to the Durham Performing Arts Center Friday night, August 18, to protest a lecture by Stacey Abrams. Abrams is a Georgia politician who famously refused to concede her 2018 gubernatorial election loss to Brian Kemp amid claims of voter suppression and a “rigged” system. Abrams’ has been credited with helping deliver Georgia’s electoral votes to President Joe Biden in the 2020 election.

“I’m out here tonight to let Stacey Abrams know and people out here know that she does not speak for all black people,” said Chairman of the Cabarrus GOP and the Black Conservative Voices Coalition Addul El Ali. “To say that the race was lost based on racism, and that Governor Kemp and Republicans in Georgia were racist and that’s why she lost the race, because she’s a black woman, I think that speaks to the same playbook that the left has always used: when in doubt, use racism…Not conceding shows the level of conceit that she had.”

While the protesters were largely ignored by the attendees, a nearby busker did make an attempt to drown out their megaphone, leading to a surge in contributions from the people waiting in line.
